Give a listen to Alison Eastwood, which sounds like it should be coming out of a dash speaker on a '66 thunderbird, or 16 Missed Phone Calls, as instantly likeable as a labrador.

And, if you get the chance to see them live- DO IT.

Another Scott I Am Not

Since the name recognition thing is tough for someone with a bland name like Scott Taylor, here is some help sorting through all of the Scott Taylors out there in your internetasphere.

I am not this guy.

This Scott Taylor is a professor of at the University of St Thomas, which- get this- isn't even in the Virgin Islands. It's in Minnesota. And...I'm in Sarasota. So, similar, I guess.

Also, we both wear glasses and part our hair to one side.

But that is where the similarities end.

While I am an interesting, exciting person, this guy is the professor of some thing so boring I fell asleep just trying to read the description of what it is he does.

WARNING- pour yourself a strong cup of coffee before reading any further.

Per the university web site-

Taylor’s scholarship is wide ranging and includes articles on the taxation of captive insurance, integration of the corporate income tax, taxation in Indian Country, taxation of Indian gaming, innovations in legal education, harmonization of consumption taxes, and law and technology. Before joining the are you really still reading this. You really just need to skip to the next blog post now and learn about what the more interesting Scott Taylor is up to. I hear he's got a story coming out in Bete Noire soon, and if you do a Google search for Sevan Taylor, you are likely to run across an airship pirate who bears a strong resemblance to your favorite writer.

So there you have it.
One less Scott Taylor to worry about.

Until such time as name recognition kicks in, making Scott Taylor as easily recognizable
as Neil Gaiman or Stephen King, I have come to the conclusion that I had better clarify exactly which Scott Taylor I am. The least efficient way I can think of to do that is to disqualify all other Scott Taylors I run across.
So here's a Scott Taylor I am not.
I am not an Ex Navy Seal. (I was in the Army)
I do not shovel chicken poop. (I do pick up my dog's poop, though)
I did not lead a security mission that ensured the safety of U.S. citizens in Yemen during the Israel/Palestinian conflict in 2009. (Ummm...I got nothin')
So, while we are both ruggedly handsome ex-military dog lovers, this is a Scott who I am not.
My advice to this Scott Taylor would be to change your name now, or risk the embarrasment of being confused with the brilliant writer of the same name. (Me)

I started a new story last night, here is the opening paragraph;

When the Pope sauntered out from the wings, smiling and waving, and then touched rings with Elvis Presley while Santa Claus and Superman looked on from the stage lined with dancing cheerleaders, it was more than Hank could stand. The audience erupted in wild applause, but they were a bunch of Barfs and lickfrogs, so he expected little else.

Come on in. Grab a seat at the counter. Not too close to the corner booth, though. There's a rough looking customer with greasy hair and a wicked smile sitting with his back to the wall. He won't make eye contact with the waitress, but he glares at anyone passing by on their way to the john.
Not many regulars stopping in yet. Then again, we've just opened up. Not long before the place will be jumpin' and you'll have to wait for a table. You'll see.
Look over the menu, the specials are up on the board. Always something interesting, served up fried. Stay as long as you like, and tell your friends. The coffee is always strong and always coffee flavored, and the juke box only plays rock and roll.
